So, how about these babies on black steelies? With the stock chrome lugs is might have some nice contrast. Could one of the Photo Shop pros give us a visual?

I like the rings, but one thing I noticed some rings don't cover the outer 3/8" to 1/2" of the wheel....giving the visual impression the wheels are smaller diameter. Just something to check out before buying, and what your prferences are. So many varieties....fat/thin, ribbed/smooth, etc.

I think it would look cool. You can probably come up with something for a center cap too. I have seen some plain chrome on ebay.

I do think the beauty rings are very cool but since I've never mounted any take Churp's advice there I think he has seen a few in his lifetime.

I am old enough to have see them on new cars like the mighty Corvette.

Any who, the one picture I posted is unusual as in they are real thin unlike most, and the clips (like moons) are evident in the angle shot. I bet these are flush with that mounting system. I am going to ping them and see what kind of reply I get.

The NAPA part number for the center cap is #730-2411. I am still trying to decide if I want to go with stainless, or chrome ABS rings?

picked up a couple of 14 inch trim rings at the local kragen. $14 each. got only two to test fitment. so far it has passed the 60mph test, in other words, it hasnt fallen off at that speed haha. goes on pretty easily, some play while on the stock steelies though. im sure other brands fit better. i dont know, i might just keep it on the rear. it if falls off, it falls off, if it gets jacked, it gets jacked. only $30.

looks good, maybe you can bend the tabs out a bit for a tighter fit? plastic tabs or metal?

I prefer the 80's style of silver wheel w/beauty rings like on my Celica. (sorry for the poor pic)

That's pretty rad. I like the giant Coke can sized center cap monstrosity.

i think its metal.

if they are metal then you can bend them out a bit and get a snugger fit

yuiedie

will try that.

I have the same ones on my car and they're a tight fit. The metal tabs hold well, if they seem loose i'd just take whichever back and grab another one, might be less hassle in the long run.

i have them on my XB for my winter wheels only, they are OK but i have to replace them every winter b/c the salt and ice rusts the crap out of them, if they would just stay pretty like my summer wheels it would be great. I think you should paint the steely the color of your car, then use chrome trim ring, better looking in my opinion. Also find a center cap if u can.

Stainless is the only way to go....not quite as purty as chrome but polished is pretty close, and rust isn't a problem.

This has been tried before and the result was not good.
Unless you find an older tercel knocking around your city with them on and is willing to part with them.....
expect to pay a lot of money for them on ebay.

You're lucky they aren't 5-lug pattern. I need a set of hub caps for my GF's car so I can take off the JCW wheel cover specials and put on some trim rings.

does the tire weight get in the way of the rings? or do they just snap in over the weights?

Yaristeve
02-22-2011, 02:34 PM
Wheel weights on steel wheels are usually the clip/clamp on style that clip on at the edge/lip of the wheel. Trim rings have "fingers" that grip the inside of the wheel rim away from the weights. So there is no interference. If you use tape on weights on the outer face of the rim, then there probably will be interference.

RedRide
02-22-2011, 03:09 PM
Trim rings made to fit on steelies are commonly designed with a small gap between the rings and wheel to allow for cllp on weights.
