My cabin filter looks like the attached.. I've had it for months, but it's very clean.. I drive every day. The fact that it's warped, is it not working well? I didn't install it, but I can't recall if it was Toyota or somewhere else.
Should I replace it?
I'm thinking about getting this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004A6JA2O/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1944687582&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004C67GNM&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0SZ2W9BH9YY7Y480HJ87 and doing it myself.
I know there are cheaper ones, but I have a funky smell from my AC sometimes, so I want something with charcoal. I looked at the Fram Fresh recommended on the forum, but it doesnt actually have a scent/freshener/charcoal right?
thanks!
(oh yea, did i install it back correctly- arrow down? it also pushes out a bit and doesnt seem to fit well..)

I realized that's an OEM filter by looking at the code here
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044B0Z06/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687582&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004C67GNM&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0SZ2W9BH9YY7Y480HJ87
so why is it so warped??

According to my manual, it is not inserted correctly.
The stiff sides should be inside on right and left side and the air goes up, not down.
So according to your picture, rotate it quarter turn then turn it right side up. That should fit.
I attached a PDF that shows how it is inserted. Keep in mind it is for 2009 Sedan but I believe it should be same for yours.

Squished because it was improperly installed.

air flow direction is correct. it is at the suction of the blower below so air flow is going down. the pdf file shows "UP" side of the filter and not air flow direction.
my guess is that it was inserted in a hurry or it could be a wrong filter (check part number to ensure)

thanks.. i did not install it.. entrusted a shop with it, sigh.
do you think i should trash it and get a new one? i tried to stretch it out, but it just goes back to being squished. obviously there are exposed areas now but i dont know if it's worth replacing because it's so clean...

I'd consider replacing it if it won't go back into shape.
If they're $30 like they are where I am, buy a furnace filter and cut it to shape to match the one you have (well, the dimensions it *should* be, anyways). You should get 4 (or more!) filters out of it. Enjoy the savings...

That's typical dealer work. They get paid per job, so most mechanics rush through things to make more money. I found lots of filters like that when I worked at a dealership. Filter is garbage as it won't seal properly. It's so clean because all the dirty air has been bypassing it.
Cheers.

I bought this one from ebay for less than $6:

From looking at the picture the airflow is correct the filter just needs to be rotated around 1/4 turn.

Hi kimona
I just ordered 3 of the cabin air filters through the link you provided. Price is great. However, after ordering I wanted to confirm compatibility and it doesn't list my 2008 Yaris LE 4-Door Hatchback as one of the compatible models. However it does list others such as the 2008 Yaris S Hatchback 2-Door.
Do you believe it would be the same?

I just bought a home HVAC filter and cut it into 6 pieces that would fit my car.
