Hi..

My 2007 Yaris base sedan just failed safety inspection due to leaky muffler.

(no major holes or torn, just hissing sound when tip is blocked, indicating minor leaks)

Shop quoted $380 to replace whole/new muffler.

However, inspector guy told me that I could replace it myself. ^^

How hard would it be?

Beside muffler itself

What other parts do I need?

Extra Bolt & Nuts? Gasket? etc?

Also.. I've been told to use "muffler weld/cement"

Does it really work?

Your advice/feedback are greatly appreciated.

TIA

Installing an axle-back muffler on the Yaris is very easy. You just have to remove the two bolts and unhook the hangers. Replacing the donut gasket where the muffler pipe meets the mid-pipe is not a bad idea.

Quoting from Amazon buyer stating, bolt is welded so I need new bolt and N.

Verified Purchase
Very easy to install once the old bolts are removed from the muffler. This muffler will only fit the yaris sedan and not the hatchback. Be aware that on the factory muffler the nuts are welded on, so to use this muffler you will need new bolts and nuts. I have changed this muffler twice and both times I ended up having to break off the bolts. You will also need a new flange gasket.

Where can i purchase new bolts and nuts? Gasket?

TIA

LB and Sedan do have different mufflers. The bolts, nuts and gaskets can be purchased from a local autoparts store, Toyota, rockauto.com, etc.
