View Full Version : heads up on the third brake light

it was not working. i googled and didn't find much on yaris, but some other toyotas had problems with dry solder inside. i took it apart and all components (4 LEDs, 2 resistors, and a diode) and connections were ok. i greased the connector with dielectric grease and it works now. all it needed was dielectric grease on the connector pins.

Every now and then I back up to a store front and check my lights for function. So far, the third brake light hasn't failed on mine yet.

Well, the fix didn't stick for long. It had been off for quite a while. Anything else to try?

can you test electric connections wile it's plugged in? check voltage before and after each component (LED, resistor, diode) and see where it stops. that will tell you where the issue is.

it must be intermittent as it worked today.
i also noticed to see it working during daytime, one has to be exactly behind, not much light shows up off center.

thanks! i must be retarded, but couldn't find it myself. i searched for different word though.

too bad i didn't see it earlier. i got tailights from some asshole on ebay who didn't bother to ship it one week later.
