rear swaybar options?

Very tempted to get a rear sway bar for my '10 3-door, but wondering if any other Toyota products had a swaybar from the factory, that I could just get cheap at the pick-a-part? Perhaps some sort of Scion?

Best sway bar is the red TRD. Your car will stop floating on the highway.

I wouldn't say the best, but it is a good one. You will have to go with something else if you want a larger swaybar than TRD.

Good point. Would you say unless he's racing on a track, he doesn't need bigger?

What I like about the TRD one, it fits perfect. I have seen some other brands that hang lower then the TRD, that's what I didn't like.

They make a big difference! Mine is 17mm and works fine,but wish I would he got the 19mm. I have a sedan,so I have a bit more rear overhang.
For normal day to day driving with some "spirited" interludes... the 17 will be fine and then some.

I really like fabricating versus buying if possible.

It depends on your suspension setup, racing or not. I was about to get the 21mm, but ended up with the TRD because it was way cheaper.

Anyways, with the MI springs, its impossible to drive in the winter because they are so stuff up front that make the cars understeer massively. The swaybar will correct this, and the TRD makes it very neutral, very predictable. Going with the UR 21mm will make the car oversteer more. Very useful when racing, and exit a corner at even higher speed.

I just finished. Installing the MI springs today. And had already had the TRD swaybar.

With just the sway bar the car slightly oversteered which I liked but it caught me off guard the first time.

With the MI spring and sway bar the car noow acts neutral in hard corners. I preferred a bit of oversteer but it is at least very predictable now.

There is virutally no body dway even on hard 90 degree corners. On and off ramps can be driven at least 25km/h faster with still no sway.

Both mods are well worth the cash and the MI springs are on ebay for $99 which is a great price

Yeah that I knew going 21mm is best for racing but at the time I was probably only intending to do occasional lapping. Now I'm about to get to the point of no return, meaning modding to race. Mine doesn't see winter!

an anti-roll bar is a torsion bar, kinda like a spring. the steel is mathmaticly twisted when it is formed. to build one would require some kind of twisting machine and some forging hammers and some fancy dial calipers and lots of math, minimum. you can however build ladder bars and strut bars as they are not sprung steel but rigid body suspension....

I think Whiteline makes one of the best ones for racing. 22mm and fully adjustable, so you can control the roll stiffness for various situations without needing to replace the wholle bar.
