Joined the Army

Well, I joined the Army yesterday. I leave for basic in 11 days. Got a big signing bonus and a job that'll I'll be able to use on the outside.

I'm going in as an E3 (pay grade/rank for those that don't know). And my job is signal support systems specialist (MOS 25U). I may have a slot for Airborne school too which is cool. I'll know about that Monday.

I'm pretty excited about going, I originally tried to get into the Air Force, but my blood pressure was high the day I went to MEPS (nerves got the best of me). I ended up going with the Army because I got a better job choice and didn't have to wait six months to go to basic.

Anyway, thought I'd throw the news out there, even though most of you probably don't care. :laugh:

It was $21,000 on a 4 year enlistment. Send me a PM, I'll shoot you my recruiters name and number. He's in Lawrenceville, but he'll drive to wherever you are in Atlanta. He's a real good guy, a straight shooter.

Fuck yeah, dude. I was an 11B (with some add ons) with 5th Corps Long Range Surveillance (Ranger)- see my avatar? :biggrin: I was in for 5 years, did three combat tours, until I was wounded in Iraq in late '04. I miss it everyday and want nothing more than to go back in.

I was the RTO for my team for about 8 months- I <3 you commo guys.

Anyhoo, I'm in the ATL as well (Cumming)- I need to buy you a beer before you go.

And +1 on the libs- they're clueless. CNN has done them such a disservice. :bonk: I need to start a liberal rehab center- my best friend in the whole world is getting the Dem donkey tatooed on his ass. :help:

11B here as well. Infantry scout for two years until one of my sergeants knocked me off a repel tower (accident) and relocated my spine. Now I'm a 22yr old disabled vet. :frown: Either way, thanks for serving and best of luck! It'll be a b*tch at first, but you'll learn to love it. Keep in touch! :drinking:

My recruiter is an Airborne 11B. He was in the 82nd. I've been talking to him, I'm going to try and get assigned to the 75th and hit Ranger school.
