Ordering a 2016 questions

What Yaris should I order? I have had a 2010 5 door 5 speed stick base and a 2008 3 door with auto and power windows. does the new gen Yaris base still have roll up windows or electric? What model would you get L, LE, SE if given the choice. I am thinking of just getting the base 3 door stick, but am open to opinions.Thanks!

Definitely the SE. I don't know if you have ever used CARGURUS.COM, but it's free and in my opinion is absolutely a lifesaver.

And I don't think crank windows are available in the 15 model year going forward. Even with the base. If I'm wrong, somebody please chime in.

No. It is my understanding that (for the U.S. market at least) hand crank/roll up windows are NOT available at all for the 2015 model year.

Re a 2015 (or likely a 2016), if the tighter turning circle of the L and LE is very important to you, then get an L or an LE. If not, then I'd get an SE equipped like the one Kalispel just purchased :thumbsup:.

The reason I was wondering about that is that, AFAIK, none of the 2nd Gen model years of the 5-door in the U.S. were ever available with a manual transmission....but at least some 2nd Gen 5-door model years in Canada were available with a manual transmission.

My kids thought the crank up windows were something new when I brought the car home. LOL

Personally, I think that the various SE upgrades are worth the marginal increase in cost over the L/LE, though the ride is noticeably stiffer on poorly maintained roads thanks to the sports-tuned suspension and lower-profile tires. The turning circle on the SE is still tight enough for all the snug spots that I have been in thus far, even if it is less than the L/LE (due to 15" vs 16" wheel size and such).

The newer, redesigned hydraulic clutch in the 2015/2016 also makes the manual a pleasure to drive - assuming that you can find one. Even the automatic isn't a bad choice really if that's your preference, despite the silly, modern-day "4-Speed Stigma" - and it also has bulletproof reliability for the long haul. Give me the well-established, ultra-reliable VVT-i Yaris engine, drivetrain and a few MPG less any day, over the newer droning, less-reliable CVT's and sensitive, more-problem-prone (currently) direct-inject engines.

I would change a few things with my SE, here and there if I could (such as add another 20hp), but I have zero regrets about purchasing mine, and love to drive it. It's essentially the modern-day Honda CRX Si hatchback that Honda has long-since forgotten how to make. :thumbup:

I don't know if this applies to the 2015 SE, but I posed a question on a past thread...namely 'would putting the 15" wheels with the skinny 15" standard (for the U.S.) 3rd Gen L model tires on an SE (2014) give that SE the turning circle of the L/LE'. The answer was no....and IIRC, that answer came from CTScott. IIRC, there are other parts involved in 'steering' (besides the tires and wheels) that are different on the SE.

:laugh: Yep, I find my m/t 2015 Toyota Yaris SE to be an properly-updated old-school Honda CRX Si type car, with 4 doors, a back seat, and far more comfortable front seats (the seats in my 1986 CRX Si really busted my ass on a spring-break trip from GA to FL one summer back in the mid/late 80's, lol). :cool:
