Downshifting grinding

I just got a 2007 manual tranny yaris and it doesn't want to shift into 2nd unless I'm going below 25mph does a little grind. down shifts fine below that speed. Is this normal? going UP thru the gears no issues what so ever! :confused:

My transmission was doing the same thing... It was the synchronizer that was worn.

that's what I was thinking how much was it to fix ?

I fixed mine with $350 because I bought an used Scion xB transmission and swapped the input, countershaft and differential to my transmission because the xB has a 4.31 final drive. I also did the whole job myself so no mechanic fees.
