Dale Jr! WOOHOO!

Does anyone think this domain will sell? Me and my brothers went in and bought it. I wonder if Budweiser can yank it from us? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Pretty sure they could take it... after all, it IS their name. Question is, who would want to buy it from you??? Drivers and sponsors aren't permanently tied together, y'know....

I figure we have $65.00 wrapped up in the domain. There is now a beer from Budweiser with the 8 on it. It is an 8 pack of 16oz beers. That is what my oldest brother was drinking when we decided to check it. BTW I was drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon! :drinking:

If we lose the money no big whoop, but if we can sell it for some bigger bucks then it was a good deal. My brother has already shot an email to Budweiser asking if we violated any laws, and godaddy said we can't sell it for 60 days anyway. The site should be up soon with god only knows what my other 2 brothers are gunna put on it.

They have no reason to yank it from you. You're not selling product in direct competition with them. In other words, you're not a threat to them.

Now if they came up with a new formula of beer called Budweiser8, then you'd have some leverage... and a problem.

I'm sure that all the domains that have budweiser in the address have not been absorbed by the company. I mean, I can go to godaddy and register budweiser7 if I wanted, right?

Budweiser actually does have a Budweiser package with the 8 prominently displayed on the box and on each can. I hope some crazy rich NASCAR fan will buy it from us when we post it on eBay! :drinking:

If you really want pitiful, check out all the lawsuits Monster Cables throws at anyone using the word monster. Monster.com, Monters Inc, Monster Garage, Monster House, Fenway's Monster seats (cause you know... The Green Monster), etc etc. Quite possible the lamest lawsuits ever considering monster is a common word.

See, then that's different. They can sue you, because they have a product bearing the name Budweiser8. They can tell the judge, "Your honor, we have a product that requires the use of its OWN url, etc.." Or something like that...and the fact Budweiser owns their name.

It's like if I went ahead and registered Budweiser6, Budweiser12, Budweiser18, Budweiser24, and Budweiser30. Those are products Bud offers. 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 packs of beer.

What do you offer? You get the point.

I know WAY too much about beer. :drinking:

Now if someone was starting a company or offering a service that NO ONE else was offering THEN you would have something to bargain with.

Check this out. Some people might think this is wrong, I see it as only business.

This is coming from the guy who is a Warehouse Manager at a Budweiser Distributor...

The name will more than likely sell, if they want it. Remember Dale Jr just moved from DEI, so I dont know what would be a marketing move on that to buy such a name. Plus Budweiser will never drop Dale, he is the biggest and cheaper of the marketing items they have. They spend more on the Super Bowl Ads, than what they pay Dale all year to drive the car. Plus everyone looks at the number 8 in NASCAR and instantly thinks of Budweiser and Dale Jr.

Cant beat such a combo, maybe you could ploy it off on someone who wants to make a fansite, or maybe Budweiser will realize it one day that they would want that for a Dale Jr minisite or just a Domain that could use to link to thier main page for NASCAR. Who knows, anyway you look at it, equals to $$$in the bank.
