View Full Version : 2nz-fe engine fuel performance
Hi!
If anyone owns a 2nz-fe engine (1.3 L), please let me know what year is it, if it is automatic or manual and what is your MPG. I would like to know because I just found out that my 2005 Yaris has a higher MPG than my new one. The only difference is that the old one is manual and the new one is automatic but the difference is HUGE, about 50%.

in my 09 manual hatchback I'm normally getting around 5.2L/100km this year. if i go over half accelerator or over 5krpm it gets up to the over 6l/100km mark. generally 1 tank over 3 weeks mainly 70km/hr with a few km a day at 100

Used to be 10-11km/l from heavier factory wheel with 185/60 r15 then it went up to 13-14km/l with lighter oem wheels (5-spoke) and same 185-60 tires.
I get around 11 km/l now after new tires 175/65 r15 with the same 5-spoke. Not sure if the decrease is due to penalty for taller tires or bec of the slower readings.
All of which are 100% city driving with medium traffic, lots of stoplights.

My wife's 2007 auto sedan on 2ron fuel gets about 325km to the tank until the gas indicator comes on. 205-50-15 tyres 32psi/30psi front/rear. A lot of short city trips.

We have a 2006 and a 2015 Yaris 1.3 L auto and both have 2NZ-FE engines.
They both get ~14 km/L most of the time although they can drop as low as 12 km/L if you do some towing or start hooning. They go as high as 16 or 17 km/L on highway runs.
