Seems the computer in the car was programmed to detect when state smog equipment was hooked up. So it enabled the pollution devices to work. Take away the smog checker...and the computer turned the smog equipment off!

How cool is THAT! :thumbup:

Actually in NJ all they would have to do is ensure there are never any codes to read. A NJ inspection isn't even sophisticated enough to detect when its being blanked with.

Having had to deal with a few government entities in New Jersey, this does not surprise me at all :biggrin:.

This is REALLY crazy! VW should give out $1000 gift cards to owners so they can donate to worthy clean companies.

What about owners who kill themselves because they are polluting the environment?:laugh:

The former CEO kind of comes off in the article like Sargent Schultz from Hogan's Heroes :laugh:. Certain government officials in Germany aren't buying it.....
