I've got a BRZ/FRS and the only way I can see this becoming successful is if it keeps the price LOW. The Miata/MX5 costs a fortune, BRZ/FRS get up in price pretty quick.... this would need to be Yaris priced.
Granted, it's probably never gonna leave Japan.... but if it does, and if the price is right, I might need to pick this up too..... =)

Toyota is hit or miss on designs. But I think this wonderful that they are taking some chances. Much like Honda is doing is right now. The only two designs that I've really liked at Toyota for quite some time were the Yaris, and the FJ. Bought both.

Can't say that I am a fan of the strange, retro, insect-like design. The Honda S2000 was more my speed aesthetically for a car in this segment (minus the convertible top).

I was taken off guard originally bu the front end, but then again the car as a whole has grown on me. I think that it is a ballsy and great homage to the 800 back in the 60s. I would seriously consider rocking one especially if it ran for the 15-18k range. It could have tons of fun driving potential. My sources feel that there is a good chance ot will come to NA. Only time will tell.

The car's specifications have been leaked on an online forum and suggest the S-FR will be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 128bhp and 109lb ft of torque. The engine will be coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, with no automatic option available. The car should be capable of returning up to 55mpg, and weighs just 980kg.
Toyota says the front-engined, rear-wheel-drive coupé offers 'smooth, responsive and direct handling that gives a real sense of communication between car and driver.' The concept has been envisioned with future tuning and customisation in mind and features a pared-back interior with a digital instrument cluster and very few buttons inside.
The leaked specifications suggest a price of around $12,500 for the S-FR in Japan. It's currently unknown whether the car would be coming to North America.
I think I'm in love!

Been following this one for a little bit now and have articles book marked. For sure would be interested in buying one if we get it here. Light weight, enough power great gas mileage and looks good.
