So here's the deal,
Just bought a 2007 Yaris, lovely little car that I'm really liking.
When I first bought it, I had to take it back and have them replace the alternator, because the regulator in the alternator was failing and pushing 16V into my system, yikes!
So took it to them, they replaced the alternator.
Now I'm noticing two things,
I get a little belt squeal when I start my car,
and more troubling: When I'm completely stopped, and then have to accelerate, there is always a little bit of a grinding noise until I'm up to speed, then it goes away. As soon as I'm at a red light, stop sign, etc. I stop, then go and it grinds for a little bit again, then smooths out.
Any suggestions? I'm terrified it's the transmission, but I'm not a huge car guy (Just mechanically inclined)

Tighten the belt & check the brakes. Maybe a dust shield is rubbing.

Had a minor squeal shortly after changing the belt on my '07. It just need tightening and the squeal disappeared.
