View Full Version : Wheels for my new 2010 Vitz
Hi, this is my first post here!
I am planning to buy a certified pre-owned 2010 1.0L 5-door Vitz (Yaris) this month. The car has stock 165/70/R14 wheels but I'm planning to trade them for a set of aftermarket wheels from the dealer.
I am planning to get 185/60/R15. Would it be a good fit for a 1.0L Vitz with stock springs? Any performance issues I should be aware of?

Hey mTDI, welcome.
I'm no expert on the subject, but I'm running 205/40/17 on a 2007 1.5L with the lowest springs you can get and have very little rubbing, so I have to assume that 185/60/15 on stock springs would be absolutely fine.
I'm sure others here will be able to confirm for you.

185/60/R15 is an OEM fitment on stock suspension, so no problem.
Bad news, 185/60/R15 is not available at the dealer! Please recommend me a good set of wheels.

I wouldn't suggest a very wide tyre with that little 1.0L.
Try 175/65/R15. This is a current Yaris OEM fitment.

It's a personal preference thing, but my feeling is 15's look small and dinky, especially if they have a lip and the spokes don't come out to the edge of the wheel. I myself wouldn't go smaller than 16", but no bigger than 17".

I find 15s are best for over all performance, other are for show.

You're totally right, as has been discussed on this forum many times. I just think most people don't track their car and the differences on the street are negligible so in my opinion, the better look far outweighs it.

I love my light weight 15s with 195 55s but do agree a set of 17s do look sexy

Thanks guys. Actually, I'm planning to get an entire set of wheels with a decent balance between looks and performance. My main concern is the capability of the 1.0L 1KR-FE engine.

I can say for sure you will notice a reduction in power if you go with anything bigger than a 15" rim size.
These are the only sizes available at the dealer:
Stock:
175/65/R14
Aftermarket:
175/70/R14
195/55/R15

Why do you need to get them from the dealer? Why not just go to a tire shop and order what you want.

It's a free SWAP from the dealer. Can't afford to buy a new set of wheels right now. :(

So, it's a wheel and tyre swap?

I guess you'll have to go with the 195/55/15's.
Why don't you take some photos of the wheels the dealer has available to you? Then post them in this thread and we can vote on the best choice.
