How keep floor below pedals warm during winter?

When I drive during the winter at -30 Celcius temperatures, the floor is incredibly cold. Consequently, it travels to my feet so they remain very cold even with good boots.

What material could I use to lay under the pedals so I can stay warm during multi-hour drives?

Or are there some floor mats made of material that is specifically for blocking the cold?

I know!!! I'm baffled by both posts he started, but this one I don't understand. I drove my 2009 Yaris in -41c ambient temperatures, I was wearing thin hiking boots and a thin sweater in my car on a two hour trip. Must have the heater fan settings on defrost towards the windshield only or it just doesn't give out heat.

best option:
-put fan on foot circulation and high heat.

other options:
-Move to a warmer climate because -30 is cold no matter what you do
-exercise and improve circulation in your extremities
-put those heat packs in your shoes that people use for skiing

Look at my post count. I don't hang out here posting pointless complaints. The Yaris is a great car and my complaints are very very few, but this one is really irritating for 1/4 of the year.

No. The cold comes from the floor itself. You hover your hand and the hot air comes from the footwell. In that regard, everything is fine. Put your hand directly on the floor and you'll feel it's QUITE cold during the winter.

That's why I'm looking for a solution. The TOP of my feet will be warm but the bottom is freezing because it seems as if the floor isn't providing any insulation whatsoever.

I got nothing, I'm at a loss here...

with thick rubber soles of a boot, plus the moderately thick carpet of the yaris, plus what ever socks you are wearing they should all be more than enough to keep your feet warm

Then maybe my so-called good boots are crap? Only other possibility I can think of.

The solution is simple. Go to salvation army or any other thrift shop, and get a blanket from there, that you think is thick enough.

Then cut it to the size of the foot-well, tape it securely with duck-tape, and voila! No more cold feet. :thumbsup:

As a bonus, it makes cleaning up that area easier since you can just remove the blanket. :smile:

I wear dress shoes in my car at -20 to -30c. Floor was not ever cold in my car to have cold feet.

Check to see if the plastic boot around the steering linkage is present. If it is missing you will have cold air coming right in on your feet.

I do wish they make a hotter t stat for northern climates, I checked my operating temp with a scanner and it was between 175 & 185. I'd like it closer to 200 degrees.
