Hey all,

I am thinking of buying a Toyota Blade. I had a look at one today, done nearly 100k km mileage. It looks all good only thing that I have a bit of concern over is the exhaust manifold heatshield. (btw, Blade has a 2.4 Camry engine 2AZ-FE)

Forgot to take a picture but I noticed quite a bit of rust over the exhaust manifold heatshield. The corner where there was one bolt was quite rusty. I feel a bit suspicious as its not that old of a car and my old 98 corona premio that did 250k kms had no rust on the heatshield.

What are your thoughts ? is it normal ?

what year is it?

heat shields in general tend to rust around the bolt that hold them on.

Heatshields rust very rapidly around the bolts due to Galvanic corrosion. It's not a big deal, but if they break around the bolt they should be removed or replaced. The rattling can damage the catalytic converter.

Had to look up what a Blade is; not a bad looking car.

Cheers.
