Funny that you post this. In 8 yrs I never had 5 people in mine. Then, just a couple weekends ago, on a whim, my better half and I decided to pick up our parents on the way back to our place.

Everyone was comfortable! In fact, my better half sat in the rear middle seat and was more comfortable than in the rear middle seat of her 2011 Honda Accord Coupe. A lot of bigger cars make the rear center seat a hump shape, but the rear bench in the Yaris is flat.

She said she still preferred to ride in the back of her Accord despite the hump because of the protection the added trunk/frame might provide in a rear end collision.

Just one more reason to love my 2010 model. All 3 headrests sit flush with the seat when pushed all the way down clearing my view. Having 3 average sized people is pretty comfortable for small trips around town surprisingly.

It doesn't interfere with my vision, so I'm okay with it being there. Plus, seeing those two gaping holes in my middle seat area back there, where the middle headrest should be, would annoy me in an OCD sort of way. :laugh:

I did remove the rear-trunk/hatch privacy cover though and store it away, since it interfered somewhat with my groceries and other things that I transport in my trunk-hatch area behind the rear seats.

Those empty holes would annoy the hell out of me too. And yep, I have OCD too. Wash my hands constantly. Keep germ wipes in my car too. Always wiping the wheel and stick. And door handles n stalks. Rarely get sick but when I do it's bad. Keep the germ wipes on the inside door "pocket."

Funny, I had no idea that they mount these kind of headrests into the US versions of Yaris.

Mine can be all pushed down, so they do not bother me at all.

FWIW, i feel the large headrests in the USA version are more comfortable for the passengers than this Iron-Man-2-drone-head-look-alike headrests (LOL), although admittedly the former block your rear vision.

your neck bends forward because of these drone headrests, and pains you in an annoying way. i have similar headrests in my 2012 sedan.
