I am thinking of buying a 2011 Yaris 4 dr hatchback 5 speed with 230k miles on it for $4600. It looks great, and it drove smoothly enough during my test drive. I'm nervous, though, about buying a car with such high mileage. The owner is the 2nd owner, and he has had the car for the last 120k miles---he has been using it as a courier and says it has never let him down once. He claims to have performed regular maintenance on it religiously as he has depended on the car for his income.
I see on various Toyota/Yaris forums that several owners of Yarii are still driving their Yarii with more than 300k or 400k miles, and they say their cars are still going strong.
My question is, has anyone heard of a 2011 Yaris with such high mileage still going strong? I see '07 owners with this comment a lot, but no 2011 owners. Is it possible the '11 model is not as great as the '07 model? I am a poor teacher, and I cannot afford to buy another lemon (the '02 Corolla is killing me, and I am def feeling burned and foolish for purchasing a car that burns so much oil---a qt and a 1/2 every 300 miles).
Any 2011 Yaris owners out there with high mileage? I'd appreciate any feedback you might provide. Thanks!

Agreed. The Yaris is a great car but at that price for that many miles I would pass.

Use CARGURUS.COM to look at various used Yaris vehicles for sale. Too much money for too many miles. You can do better.

Offer $2000 if the car checks out and you need a cheap car.
Many hi miles Yaris out there.
But have the car checked by mechanic.
It s a risk.

Check autotrader.com for something with a lot less miles. My '07 5sp hatch is currently for sale with half that mileage for 4 grand.

Just KBB'd it based on the info. Very good condition has it at $3,300. It's a good buy at the book value. Show the seller the blue book.
As long as it got regular oil changes and has had other regular maintenance done, this car will run very well for years to come. The fact that it's a lot of mileage in a short amount of time is better than a car that is twice as old with less mileage. Although if he spent a lot of time doing city mileage I would be hesitant.

I'd pass. Check cargurus, craigslist, Ebay, cars.com, etc. and so on. There are better options out there, for sure. I almost bought a 2009 manual tranny Yaris recently for $6,300 and it only had 29,000 miles on it via Craigslist. I waited too long, and someone else snatched it up. See something like that, jump on it. There are good deals out there, but sometimes you just have to be patient enough to catch the car you want. Bought my mom a beautiful low miles older model Buick LeSabre from a retired gentleman via Craigslist probably 7 years ago. She still has it. Best of luck to you, Pixydish.

I work with a guy with a 2008 with nearly 210K miles on it; but given the number of used Yarii out there you can find one with a lot lower miles for about the same price.
Pass.
Cheers! M2

I wouldn't buy any car with that many miles on it. No way.
