My Yaris 2008 loud noise

Hello everyone! I have a Yaris 2008 and when the a/c or compressor is turn on is making a very loud sounds. It sounds like yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii and clack clack from the passenger seat. The car motor sounds fine. When the compressor is off , no noise is heard. According to most internet site estimates (changing the compressor including the labor ) are between 800-1000 dollars. This is damn expensive. Any tips for expending less money or I'm basically screwed ? Thanks in advance. Please help!:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

If you want to save money do it yourself. Otherwise, get estimates from other shops if you feel your estimate is to high.

And put in a used compressor, rather than a new one.

Impossible to come on here with that description of symptoms and expect us to make a $1000 diagnostic decision. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone instantly recognizes that sound based on a shared experience.

Take it to a mechanic for diagnostic, and then pick your course of action.
