Iconic musician gone too soon. I've had many memorable moments in my life sound tracked by this unique and versatile artist.

I just heard! Sad! Seriously why can't Justing Bieber or some corporate cookie cutter pop star be taken. I'm tired of loosing the true innovators!

It was a bummer to hear. I'm not a fan of most of his music, aside from the funk tunes he made, but there is no denying the musical mind and talent.
57 is far too young.

I'm sorry he's dead, just like I'm sorry anyone (not quite) dies before their time. But this cult of celebrity is tedious, to say the least.

Terrible loss and even more scary is no one is saying what the reason was.

Without launching this thread into a mudslinging socio-political debate, I do agree with you. However, I feel badly for him and his family and friends. From the reports of it, it could be drug related, which is very sad. This is especially true since apparently he most recently had an awakening with regard to the perils of alcohol and drugs. In the end we are all fallible and feeble on this Earth and we all make mistakes. RIP Prince.

Someone who seemed to know him very well said on the news this am that Prince did not do alcohol or drugs.

Even as the creator of this thread, I have to say that I largely agree. However, every now and then an individual comes along whose impact on the world that they occupied will be felt decades after they've departed. This man was one of those individuals.

It has been reported that he overdosed on Percocet and then had to get a "save me" antidote medication, hence the emergency landing. So drugs were definitely a factor in the days before. You don't overdose on Percocet if taken as prescribed.

So much for that.
So many wasted lives...

As far as I know, the Percocet theory is speculation. I have no doubt he was on it as he did have a blown out hip but to say he was an addicted abuser is premature.
Just have to wait for the tox screens.

I didn't say he was addicted. I said he had overdosed a few days prior to his death on the drug. I love the music Prince has given us. I'm not talking poorly about him. I am just stating what the media has stated thus far.
