Belt Squeal mystery solved

I did some testing on a Yaris I've been working on for a while and may have come up with a solution for the belt squeal - If you have replaced or tightened your belt and are sure there are no bad pulleys etc and you still have the squeal try the "turn key slowly" trick like in this you tube video - https://youtu.be/HRrVMtyIqIY

I found replacing my a/m belt with an OEM belt, fixed my squealing problems.

What brand is the OEM belt? I had a Dayco belt which was squealing for no reason. Even when it was a adjusted a little tight. I swapped it with a Blue Print one i found on ebay which has shut it up for now but i don't know what the quality of those belts is like. The Dayco one was fine for 18 months until it started squealing.

Dayco belts tend to be noisy. Avoid them and Goodyear. Not sure who OE is, but probably Bando or Continental. Those, along with Gates, are probably the best belts.

Same thing happened to me when i was using the Dayco belt. I had to replace it with a bando one and so far so good after 5k miles.

I too thought this post was a joke.......but I tried it (just for giggles), and it actually works just like it shows in the video!!!!! Try it if your belt squeels, as weird as it sounds, it works!!!!
