GONE
Did a brake job on someone's '07 Yaris and now have two good pads left. They are used but have more than half their life left. If anyone is doing a brake job and need two good pads just pay shipping or can pick them up free. These are genuine Toyota pads.

Is it typical to go +65k on the original brakes? I'm up over 65k miles on my car now and they keep telling me my brakes are good. I don't recall going that long on original brakes in the few other cars I've owned.

That's exactly what it was. The one inside on the driver was metal to metal. They were only there so I could assess what they needed and I had to drive them home because I couldn't let them leave LOL.

I had 87k on mine when I changed the brake pads. The outside ones were fine but the insides were getting thin. I probably could have gotten another 20k out of them but both of my rotors were warped and it was driving me crazy.

Other option is if u have the knowledge in how to service brakes one can always flip pads, outside to inside and get more life out of ur pads.
But I find if ur hard on ur brakes this issue is not as common.

Did my rear shoes for the first time this year at 275,555 kms. Lots of meat left on the bottom of shoes, tops where gone. On my 4th set of front pads.

I replaced my fronts at 97000 miles. Still had a surprising amount of pad left, both inner and outer pads.

Original breaks with plenty of life left in them on my 09 HB, at 154K miles.
Most of the mileage was long distance highway driving (I had a 180 mile round trip commute to work each day)- so you really can't wear out what you don't use.

you should never have to replace the rear shoes unless they become contaminated. my last civic had factory oem shoes when I sold it at 338,000mi.(543,960km) I had purchased shoes twice, but when removing drums there was plenty of friction material; so clean and adjust but never replaced...
also, car was driven in the mountains it's entire life. lots of brake use....

Never...what world are you living in, u got lucky and yes clean and adjust can only make it last that much longer also keep in mind weather, climate.

Shoes wear out just like pads, just not as quickly. They typically last twice as long. The only way what you are saying is even possible (and would not likely ever happen) is if both wheel cylinders were completely siezed and not applying the shoes anymore.
