Hi all I am opening a new thread in which we can discuss fuel economy of the Yaris/Vitz and what did you do to increase fuel economy.
Please post you car's information in this order .

Interesting using 98 octane. Does it make a difference or you had to tune the engine for it?

The way I am thinking is, that this "98" octane is actually 95-96 and "95" is actually 91, since there is no less than 95 octane available on gas stations in my country.
Anyhow, car is more responsive and runs smoother with this type of petrol.
No tuning allowed at this moment
As I can recall from the manual, Toyota recommends no less than 95.

Type: Yaris French - Sounds like a 1960s actor's name
Year: 2016 - Yep she's new
Engine: 1.5L - Seems like a motorcycle displacement
Transmission: auto - I'm too lazy to shift
Type of fuel: 87 or even 85 if available outside CA
Mileage: 300+ - She's a long distance road trip car
Fuel consumption: 34-36 mpg - 80+ mph all day/ night = not the most economical
