Headlight & foglight bulb question

So I'm trying to replace the headlight and foglight bulbs on my 2016 SE only I'm confused by what the handbook is telling me. What is the difference between a bulb number and bulb type? They're 2 different things. For the fog lights where the bulb number would be it's blank, but the bulb type is H16. Now I don't know which headlight bulb I'm (between type A or B) which A is 9003 / Hb2 and B is Blank / HIR2.

Okay the bulb for an SE is a 9012 it's a single filament bulb. Do not buy a 9003 it won't work. The fog light bulbs are h16

What was wrong with the OEM bulbs? Going for a whiter/brighter light output?

Yes. I dislike the idea that I bought a "SE" that comes with projectors, LED Drls and a light bar but it comes with those ugly factory bulbs (the color). All my cars have HIDs either factory or aftermarket with the exception with my mr2. Only because I want to keep that stock. I'm getting HIDs later today and will post photos of the install in case others are curious.

Yeah I have HIDs in my SE and it's a major difference
