What is the best spark plug for Toyota Vitz 2008?

re your question, best is a matter of category.

financial aspect: OEM is best

other aspects: i have no idea, though i've tried Bosch platinum before, and it performed really well over OEM Honda plugs and costing only about US$1 more each ($3 vs. $2)--but that can also be because it's for a relatively older engine.

bosh platinum is a bad idea.

OEM is a good idea.
I'm also partial to denso TT spark plugs.

Denso and NGK are normaly found as factory installed in our engines.

OUCH. ok i take that back. well in my defense i did replace the plugs every 10k kms, as they were nonOEM and i wanted to play it safe. So yes, OEM seems best still.

I used NGK for all 5 but one the F150 can only do OEM Motorcraft, what a blow.

Every 10,000k??? They're good for about 160,000 km

And why does being OEM make them better? I tend to think the opposite.

As another resource if you use Facebook there is my group there called "The Toyota 1NZ Enthusiast's Garage". I have several documents stored in the group and one of them for example is a whitepaper about spark plugs from NGK.

Anyway, I am actually officially sponsored this year by Autolite and from what I can tell they are a solid choice along with NGK. If you are running stock then I would stick with the Iridium as they are what the engine comes with.

You need to re-thinking.

I tend to agree. I would only not go OEM if they weren't readily available and you needed them immediately.

The correct plugs to use in an 08 Yaris are Denso SK16R11 or NGK IFR5A11. There is nothing special about those plugs but the engine is designed to run best when using those plugs. You could use plugs other then the two listed but they have to be iridium tipped and in the same heat range. Iridium tipped plugs are pricey but they offer very long life (Toyota recommends changing the plugs at 120K or 144 months) and a very consistent spark. Old school inexpensive copper core plugs have the strongest spark but short lifespan, and platinum tipped plugs where developed before iridium to address the short comings of copper core plugs but have the poorest conductivity. I've found that putting platinum plugs in an engine designed for copper core plugs generally results in a engine running worse than before.

I am using NGK Iridium IX plugs. While the OEM plugs, especially in the case of Toyota, will be good, we need to remember the car manufacturer is always making cost compromises. So with plugs, as with many other parts, you can get something a bit better if you don't mind paying a little more.

haha yeah, i didnt know any better then, was in college, google wasn't as readily available as it is now...in short, i thought plugs were like oil changes. (every 10k kms) :iono:

I have traditionally changed mine on all my vehicles once a year. May be overkill, but it's what I do.

Yup, I'm serious. Most aftermarkets are junk and not trust worthy.

I am using NGK Iridium IX plugs.

I see, you picked the best plugs manufactures in the world.

when i got E85 chip tuned, i upgraded to NGK IX plugs..
the ecu tuner recommanded for higher heat range sparkplugs..😃😃😃
its actually up to you, if you dont have mods you can go for the stock NGK, Bosch plugs..if you have mods, you can go for better or higher heat range plugs..

Just put the NGK IX plugs into my latest car today, a 2006 Yaris with 145k km (around 92k miles). Presumably it was still running on the original OEM factory plugs. Big change. The engine sounds smoother. It starts faster, and accelerates better. You can feel the difference immediately. 👍 😀

now, people who use the single platinum thin wire NGK IX plug do understand they are short life ones, right?

Very true, rabbito 👍. Anyhow, in my case these are NGK Iridium IX plugs. I stay away from copper or platinum plugs.

NGK iridium plugs installed at 130k miles. Pulled out Denso's. I assume they were from the factory. They were in great shape and didn't look like they even needed to be replaced. Replaced them anyways. At 170k now still running strong.
