Anyone here lowered?

I'm debating what springs to pick. I basically have 2 options. First one being max drop on a spring. Don't care for coil overs since I have a set budget for this vehicle (since it's a commuter). Second option is best comfort. My wife and I share the car for work and errands and I'm not too sure she'll enjoy a horrible ride, since she's used to driving my other cars which are all dumped on the floor :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

What are your thoughts? In terms of wheels. I plan on keeping the stock SE wheels for a while. I heard 2nd gen springs will work but wish to confirm again before I start looking and buying a set. Being that my car is pretty new (Only 5k miles). I don't plan on upgrading the struts/shocks anytime soon. Although in the future. If and when I do replace the wheels with some 17s. I would upgrade the struts / shocks, so some suggestions on that too would be nice.

The springs and shocks are the same, if you go onto KYB's website, they sell full strut/spring replacement, and both part numbers are the same for the 2nd and 3rd gen. ;)

Tanabe has a NF210 part # for the 3rd gen. Their website is down right now. Off the top of my head its like F: 1.5" and R: 1.4"drop? With like a F: 3.0kg and rear 2.2kg rates?

Tanabe appears to be the only ones with a different set for gen 3 vs gen 2. Dimensionally they're the same for both generations. Unfortunately Tanabe is also on the pricey side, and I'm seeing other options on evilBay for half the price. I don't know how good those ones are...

You get what you pay for! Buy cheap and get cheap........I`m on Tanabe for the 3rd season, no issues. Lowered 1.5" and the ride is still respectable.

I think some of the more pricier drop springs options are progressive rate. Where as the generic Ebay stuff is linear spring rate. Also you gotta watch out on the spring rate itself, get something too stiff and the ride will be un-refined an will wear on the strut more. Under-dampened and over-dampened is a thing. I think Tein's S-tech spring rate is just about right if you get the Scion XD spring(same spring but stiffer in rear). The rear is a little stiffer to prevent ass sag on our cars. The Tanabe and H&R are good choices too. If you can find a reputable E-bay seller that has a similar spring rate to a big name brand, id say go for it.

What are the spring rates for the OEM springs on the Yaris? I'm trying to get a spring that is as close to stock as possible but gives a good drop.

I don't think anyone knows what the OEM rates are, but Toyota. Tanabe's NF210 are their Max Comfort springs, and they stand for Normal Feeling (210 is their tensile strength, 2100nm I believe)

Take the Tein rate and minus %20-15% thats around what stock is

I just realized the rear is much higher. A 2 inch drop in the front (with stock SE wheels and tires) leaves maybe 1/4 of an inch gap or slightly less. The rear is a whole 1 inch. I wanted to keep a leveled look. But all the springs I look are aren't :(

With teins the car will sit perfect and leveled , have a look on here ppl have done it to 3rd gen and it's awesome on my 2nd gen it's even too.
Other option is TRD springs .5 front and 1.5 rear but if one is to lower I say go lower than that lol

It's hard to search for stuff on my phone since this site isn't mobile friendly :(. I don't want to go too low. I have 2 others cars, both dumped on the floor and I don't want a 3rd, especially since this is a commuter. I just want to eliminate some wheel gap.
