I've seen a few articles regarding Toyotas return to world rally racing and a supposed subsequent 2017 turbo hatch coming. Anyone have any ideas on this? I'd definitely buy one brand new if offered.

I will be extremely surprised if the Turbo Yaris ever hits the USA market. With that said, I would 100% buy one if it was based on the 3rd gen Yaris design (Toyota-built). That is about the only thing that would convince me to sell/trade my current SE. Hell, I would probably keep my current Yari as a daily commuter, and get the Turbo Yari as a sideline "fun car".

I like the front-end design.

The new Auris in the UK has the 8NR-FTS which is a 1.2 turbo so its highly likely they would fit one in the Yaris to rival all the new 3 stroke 1 litre engines in the Fiesta, Corsa, Golf/Polo/Fabia/Seat, Mazda and Renault.

There already is (was) a Factory Vitz Turbo in Japan. (Search: GRMN Vitz Turbo) It was only a limited run. Highly doubt they will ever reach US shores though.

Hmmm, I wonder where the cues for colour treatment came from...

It's going to be released in Europe to satisfy homologation rules for WRC.

Speaking of Europe, that is where the 2,500 homologated versions of the Yaris WRC will likely turn up in order for the automaker to be able to compete two years from now. However, power for the homologated model will come from the Lexus NX 200t’s 2-liter turbo-four, capable of 235 horses and 258 lb-ft torque. The power would be directed by a six-speed manual.
