Replaced alternator --> Electrics now broken

Thanks guys it turned out to be the alternator.

Now I've replaced that and it seems ok but now I have another new, worse issue!

When I put the car to on (just before starting it) I don't have the following:

-radio
-engine light is on
-power windows don't work

Also the car starts ok but I have:

- No Reponse from the accelerator
- Power steering is gone
- Engine light stuck on


FFS! Any ideas? I've started checking fuses and they appear ok.

Did you check the big 120A fuse inline with the positive battery terminal. There are 2 fuses there, one 120A and one 60A.

If you foolishly didn't disconnect the battery before replacing the alt, you could have very well blown one of the 'Main' fuses.

You're right, 120A is fried and I'm a fool trying to save a buck, learning the hard way.

Can you replace just the fuse or do you have to do the entire fuse block that includes the 60A?

definitely the 120 is blown from the problem described...and its 24$ bucks from Toyota , location is on top of the positive terminal .

the fuse block comes as one so you get both 120/60 and price is 24$ plus tax at toyota .

The joy continues.. One of my power windows is stuck half way down and it's about to rain.

I tried applying some pressure between hands and lifting it up but it aint budging. Is there a manual way to lift it up that doesn't involve me tearing the interior of the door apart?
