Left side baggage area light 2007 hatchback--Is there any way to turn this off with the hatch up? How is the bulb changed? What makes the lamp turn on? (I'm not finding a switch along the body/hatch interface.)

Are you looking to completely disable it, or just when the hatch is open? I forgot to reconnect mine when I wired in my trailer lights, but I rarely have need of it anyway.

Looking for a way to turn it off with the hatch open, where the OEM hatch-open sensing switch is, and how the bulb is accessed.

The bulb should be accessible by popping the light assembly off the interior panel. (Use caution, the repair manual doesn't show that procedure).

The switch is integrated into the rear lock mechanism. It's probably easier to just remove the bulb than access the switch assembly.

close the switch on the hatch with a screwdriver to trick the computer. remember to open it before closing the hatch.
