Fusible link and Terminal End Removal

I had to replace my battery the other day, I knew the corrosion was bad but did not realize how bad it was. With a lot of effort and aid from a friend finally got the positive terminal removed however in the process it broke. It is still usable but now that I got the replacement part in I am having trouble removing the nuts that hold the terminal end and the fusible link on. Looking for any other tips and suggestions. I have used baking soda and water to get it this clean, sorry no before pics, and several brands of penetrating fluids. Thanks

If they are corroded all you can do is what you are doing.

I coat the battery poses and terminals in wheel bearing grease which seems to help in preventing the corrosion.

Thanks for the responses. So looks like I can take it to a mechanic and see if they can do anything else, or replace the whole positive side (fusible link etc).

It's almost impossible to break the torque on those without being attached to something (like the battery terminal). Drop a battery back in, clamp the terminal, and break them loose. If you can get your hands on an impact wrench, that can help too. Breaker bars or longer wrenches are only going to shear off the bolt.

This. Almost everyone has an electric impact driver. If you do not, you probably know someone who does. A new fusible link is only like 20 bucks if you replace it. You can hold the link in a rag in your hand and hit it with the driver a few times.

Already tried that, did the two man knuckle scraper method also

Ouch. The fusible link should only be $18, not sure about the terminal. Of course, that doesn't help if you can't get the rear bolt loose ...

So this finally happened. I stopped playing around on the phone with dealership parts department, and actually stopped in. The part they had to order magically appeared to be in stock for $15. Now the wiring terminal ends are only sold as the wiring harness, not spending $1600 and doing a wiring harness, so off to Napa for those. Thanks everyone.
