I noticed this seep or leak wherever you want to call it can someone help me what the issue could be I'm loosing about 1/4 of oil a little less every 2500 miles the oil accumulates on the back of the engine In a little square part

I can't explain it is a square part that has some dept in it and that's where is accumulating is on the passenger side I replaced the valve cover gasket but still leaking

The amount of oil I saw in video is nowhere near enough to cause the oil level to go down. Unless you have liquid oil dripping on the ground (rather than just weeping down the block), your oil is going elsewhere. Probably being burned in the motor.

How many miles on it, and how much oil is it using per oil change?
Cheers.

PS: The weeping I saw was probably valve cover, or timing cover. Hard to tell from a video though.

It has 1550000 miles I bought it 9 months ago and didn't notice the seep till a few weeks ago but I am loosing oil between oil changes I would say it goes down like 1/4 below the full mark my commute is short 8 miles going and back and mostly city driving idk if that's has anything to do with it being burn but I notice the oil was fresh when I touched it right by the exaust manifold I was told that it could be the timing cover leaking

I also read somewhere that it could be a head gasket that is leaking thought the 1 cylinder something like that but my oil cap doesn't look milky or anything I really hope it isn't the head gasket because I don't have that kind of cash right now

how would i go about finding the source of the leak without taking the motor out being that is very little space to work with it such a small car?

From where it is weeping it is most likely the timing cover, but I don't think it's time to fix it yet. Your engine with 155000miles (I assume that's what you meant?) is expected to be burning a bit of oil. From the add mark to the full mark is only around 0.75L (less than a quart). If you are losing less than that per 3000miles, I'd say you are totally fine. Just top up as needed.

K will do thank you so much on the mean time I'll check my oil level once every 2 weeks or so just in case

It's likely the timing chain cover . Did you check the corners of the valve cover as well . Any leaks there ? If so , both could contribute . Maybe the timing chain cover leak gets worse as the miles pile up :iono: . Keep us up to date .

Will do Hershey no I haven't checked the corners my mechanic says as longest I'm not dropping oil on the floor is k but I know eventually I'm going to have to get it fix just don't want to pay a fortune lol

Jus a little quick update I pour some engine uv dye and purchase the yellow glasses kit along with the light and I could see exactly where it was coming out of it was right where the engine meets the head and the timing cover is very slowly I switched to a high mileage oil and it seems to help for now I will continue to drive it as I confirmed with a shop that is indeed the timing cover he said is pretty common for some Toyotas to leak from there actually there is even a tsb on the issue just a heads up in case someone has this seep they quoted me 450 to do a timing reseal by the way

This is my leak. It was the timing chain cover seal. Takes 2hours to redo.

Can you confirm if you have to remove the head to remove the rooming cover? When I replaced the head gasket on my echo I have to remove the timing cover to remove the head but I'm pretty sure the head can stay in when the timing cover is removed.

Just want some clarification

My garage removed the head cover when they did the timing chain cover. So they did the head gasket at the same time.

To remove the timing chain cover or oil pump (the oil pump is built into the timing chain cover) you need to remove the valve cover but certainly not the head. If you're getting a leak from the timing chain cover area it could also be the crankshaft seal.

The mechanic that I took it to at a small shop said that it doesn't need to be resealed right now since is a very small seep I pointed out to him that it was shocking across the middle of the engine and he mentioned that oil travels everywhere but he did also mention that if it was his car he wouldn't resealed because it such a pain in the ass and considering the car mileage to just let it be and top off as needed but is crazy tho why would Toyota use that sealer instead of the black one which is better because you can see atleast in my case coming out of that gray rtv and spreading lol

I can't hate on the Yaris tho is been pretty reliable besides the p0012 code I got which Toyota insisted it was the camshaft gear thank god it was just the ocv, cheap to run reliable has never let me stranded when I replaced the valve cover gasket that's motor was sooooo clean fine little engines

By the way does anybody now where I can get a repair manual for the Yaris? I when to auto parts store but can't find any and not trying to spend a fortune on one

If anybody can help I will appreciate it now if me and by buddy who is a mechanic where to attemp to reseal the timing cover what would you guys recommend? Replace some components in there? And could I reuse the timing cover or just buy a new one? Also I understand is a pretty long job, does the head come out of just the upper part of the engine? And how long does it take for the sealer to dry?
