Hey all
I currently still own a 2003 toyota echo, has been a great car. I'm in the market for something new to me, there is a 2015 toyota yaris le at a place by my house for a good price. The only negatives I can find are an outdated powertrain which I'm not sure how much I would notice this when driving. Going to be doing city driving 70% and 30% highway. Any reasons I should not buy this car? Has everything I need and I'm comfortable in it.
Is the "passing power" really lacking that much? I didn't take it on the highway during test drive.

outdated powertrain
= bulletproof

No it is not. There really is a surprising amount of spunk in this car. I pass all the time on the 401 with no wishing I had more power.
It's like 90% the same as your Echo, just different sheet metal and interior. If you are happy with Echo, you will be more than pleased with a '15.

As Wee said it is essentially an updated Echo. So if you like your Echo you should like the Yaris. Same engine and transmission, both have proven reliable. I say go for it.

I can only hope the bulletproof 1.5L motor and brilliant 4-speed automatic transmission is still available in the future. I love the "outdated powertrain"!
I've read reviews claiming the Yaris is underpowered, and lacks passing power on the highway. Frankly, I've never found the car lacking power. I actually find the car very zippy around town. Plus, it has plenty of power to merge onto the highway and pass confidently as needed.
Take the 2015 near your house out for a good long test drive and judge for yourself.

I bout a 07 Yaris thinking it would be weak butt it has really surprised me how much it can accelerate. I've had it on the interstate doing 85 no problem. my other Toyota is 5.7 tundra and ya its more powerful butt not by as much as you would think.
I know 2 other people that have driven Yari for 5+ yrs and are vary happy with them. I'm sure you will be also.

Uh... nah. The 1971 BMW 2002 tii had a 140 hp engine and 145 ft-lbs of torque vs the 106 hp and 103 ft-lb in the Yaris.

There was also a lot more room in it the 2002, and it weighed 100 lbs less.
