Yaris Verso High beam problem

I have very rare problem. when I switch on the high beam (indicator lever pushed to front) the lights do not react to this.
When I pull the lever the high beams are working.
any suggestions ?

Just to verify - Do you have the headlight switch on before trying to switch the high beams on via the forward position?

If you do, I would suspect the headlight switch being the issue.
