so in looking for a new family hauler, we drove a cx5 (2.5L) and mazda3 (2.0L) both with 6 speed automatics.
i was quite unimpressed.
i WANTED to like them more as in Canada they have 3 and 5 year comprehensive and powertrain warranties respectively with UNLIMITED kilometers. given that im now driving 40-45000km a year (30-35k miles) this would be handy.
WELL
i drove a mazda3 2.0L with a 6 speed manual last night...
...what a great car

I personally wouldn't ever buy a Mazda, they're the worst rusting cars i've ever seen.
I vote you buy another vibe/matrix:biggrin:

I don't get what you are doing. Just bought a VW Sportwagon (Vibe replacement) at same time you were questioning a Mazda 2 (Echo replacement). Decided to keep Echo as it financially made sense. Now tossing out impressions on 3s and CX-5s. :iono: Going back to the old days where you test drove everything in sight just for shits and giggles?
I have a friend looking for a new used vehicle to replace his very rusty Mazda 6 wagon. The only thing he has his sights on is the 2.5L CX-5.

Good stuff. Can you do a brief review or your impression of the Mazda 3 because i am looking at perhaps buying the Mazda 3 sp 25 the 2.5 ltr pocket rocket lol. I hear its fun car to drive like the Mx5 or Rx7 might become a Mazda convert one day.
