Well another yaris down
I was headed into work yesterday when a car coming off a side road pulled out in front of me. I had no where to go and t-boned him.
I'm okay got 10 stitches in my head and some bruises all over my body(should have had on my 5 point harness I would have walked away clean).
I still plan on finishing my rally car so as soon as their insurance pays up I'm going to be getting me another yaris, this time I'm going to start with a manual so I won't have to do the swap. Now Ive just got an extra gearbox!
I was happy how it held up. I was going about 50 and in the rainy conditions had no chance to slow slow. The cabin held up strong all damage was in the front where you can see. It absorbed the damage pretty well for me. I'm happy my wheels are salvageable off of it! That NST tow hook in the front was beast. It's got like 1 scratch and went through and shredded a good chunk of the other guys car as we were spinning.

Hey, glad you're ok. Looks like the car took the damage pretty well. How did you hit your head?

NST hook? I see what looks like the eyebolt that comes with the car and screws in after removing a circular plug in the bumper cover. (Anyone drive around with this installed?)

I'm not sure what I hit my head on.. the steering wheel left a nice bruise on my chest and stomach. I think my head came around and cracked the dash after I hit the steering wheel with my chest.
Sorry not gonna be for sale, it'll go on my new one when I get it!
I drove around with the tow hook always in. there are several people on here that do as well. It kind of depends on what you have done with your car looks wise, it's def not for everyone. My car was about to be a rally car so it fit the look well.

There are some bolts at each end of the cross-beam that appears to carry the tow hook. If this beam removes and I can find one, then a left-side tow hook socket could be welded in...anyone got one for this experiment? (Might be base for front spare tire mount and/or tow bar mount.)

The hood hook pulled your rad mount up though..
Glad you are OK, but I'm not sure how you slid out of your seat belt? And how about the air bag?

Happy you're okay.
...And how about the air bag?
I had the same question.

I had removed my airbags and seatbelt. I have FIA seats and FIA 5 point harness in there. Didn't have the full cage put in yet but I had the main hoop and harness bar welded in. The harness would have worked if I put it on. No excuse but I was stopping at the gas station that's 1/2 mile up the road before I went to work so I didn't strap in. It happened in that 1/2 mile:thumbdown:

isn't it illegal to remove airbags?

It's not the most legal move you can do.
It was not my daily driver anymore. It was being built to Rally America's B spec class. I bought a Subaru Impreza earlier this year, and fixed it up and had been daily driving it. I had changed the rack and pinion on the impreza the night before. I forgot to get new fluid and didnt have time to get it before work so I drove the yaris that day.

No seat belts or airbag? You're dumb and lucky to be alive

Not like he had kids with him on the way to school or anything. Some of us remember when NO cars had seat belts or airbags, and we somehow survived, mostly. His choice, point being, stuff happens.
