Hello,

I'would like to have some answers about the Yaris RS Turbo before buying it.

I'm looking after a light powerfull FWD car to take part in the Belgian rally championship.
At this moment I'm hesitating between the Yaris and the Punto GT mk1. I'd rather buy the Yaris because it's less old and the chassis is quite good.

Here are my questions :

1) Can we buy an helical LSD for this car ? (what is the type of the gearbox ? Same as the one on the Starlet turbo ?)
2) Can we buy another final drive ratio with a top speed of about 180kph (110mph) ? tyres : 195/50/15
3) Are there some kits on the market to increase the displacement ? If yes, what displacement ?
4) What shock absorbers can we buy for this car ? I don't find a Bilstein B6 reference.
5) Can we put around 240 bhp (34mm restrictor) in this engine or is it too fragile ? (With forged conrods and pistons) My goal : big torque everywhere and as less lag as possible.
6) Are the original CV joints and gearbox solid enough to resist?

Do you think that the Punto GT is a better option ?

Many thx. guys !

I am in no way an expert, but in your part of the world I would think that there is far more support in both knowledge and product to rally a Punto.
