Seeing I want to order axle back within canada choices are very, very limited.

Is this a good representation of how they sound?

Thanks.

Thats what I thought.Does not sound any different then my stock muffler.

I may go with this.

The medallion is way too expensive after import taxes.

i had a megan on mine....was nice and deep. added a custom 2.25" midpipe section from the back of the resonator to the axle flange that added some nice power....otherwise its all noise.

So it sounds like a raspy tin can?

I suppose the medallion is the only good exhaust made for the yaris perhaps.

I may have to take a drive to the US.

I got quote for the tanabe medallion for 486$ shipped from Quebec.

This is the company.

I may be able to pickup but still waiting back for reply.

This would bring the price lower then the Megan.

I appreciate the feedback, opinions and suggestions BTW.

Walker from your local Canadian Tire. Been referenced plenty of times on this forum.

Had a Medalion Touring for about 2 years and switched to a Walker unit. I like the quietness for a change, and the nice low-end power. The Touring has great exhaust note, but tends to be a bit on the drowny side at low revs.

One thing I don't find mentioned all that much is weight. I had a chance to compare the 2, and the Medalion Touring is definitly much heavier than the Walker unit. One extra thing to keep in mind when switching.

Droney,perhaps highway.Like you mentioned lower RPM'S.

This is what I wanted to avoid if possible but its hard to have your cake and eat it too as I want a nicer tone/throatier but not ricer/raspier annoying.

If not mistaken someone on this forum..or perhaps somewhere else mentioned the walkera yaris unit rusting out within a year?

The medallion is definitly a heavier unit because of thickness of construction and material used.

Thanks for the feedback and will definitly research my decision further before purchasing anything.

just go custom and pick a muffler from your local shop

Welding is $95.00 per hour. Then you still have to buy the parts and cut, bend, dry run etc.

Would end up costing the same or more more then a prebuilt axle back.

Also any local shops do not have carry mufflers that I would even consider better then stock.

The Megan muffler in their axle-back kit goes down to 1.5" on the inside.

I would not suggest it other then you want something shiney with a different tone.

I had one come in on a Yaris when I was at the other shop and I was shocked how tiny it was inside

the megan was 2.25" thru...i found no restrictions.

if you're just replacing the axle section, you really won't feel any gains. i didnt feel squat until i swapped out the 1.75" section from the resonator to the axle flange with 2.25" piping...that made a noticeable difference...

Did you physically cut the pipe off the muffler & measure it?

Unless they changed things, this thing was a joke of a "performance" muffler

Felt no change in power until i added the midpipe section

In my opinion no axleback for the yaris lends power until you replace the 1.75" section of midpipe from the resonator to the axle flange

How much you gain on power after changing exhaust pipe and muffler ... what you think ... ?

On my previous Echo HB, just for laughs, I installed an N1 style muffler. I was therefore pretty surprised to find that it made a quite noticeable difference to how the car performed in real life road driving.

For example I found that certain hills the car had struggled with before, it now took comfortably in its stride and accelerated all the way up. I am still pretty sure the horsepower number on paper, would have increased by only a tiny amount if at all, but the improved power band was really noticeable and very worthwhile. So I learnt it's not just about how much power you've got, but how the power is delivered.

[emoji1360] just like that !
1NZ-fe in T-sport configuration has awesome power band even on stock .. low end mid range feels like way bigger engine!
That is why i don't install any noise reducer on it[emoji51]
