View Full Version : Yaris Wanted
(NOT IN THE MARKET ANYMORE. I ALREADY BOUGHT ONE.)
I would be willing to buy a Yaris with the following specifications.
Would not require me to travel much more than 150 miles from Pittsburgh, PA.
At least a fair price on edmund's true market value or similar sites such as KBB or NADA
Five door (hatchback)
Power mirrors/locks/windows
60/40 rear split seats
Not experiencing annoying problems like whining belts, or poor acceleration causing gas pedal to hit the floor too easily
No mechanical problems resulting from past accident(s)
The following is a list of wants I am looking for, but are not needs.
Cruise control
Older model
Not too rusty
Not much more than 130k miles
Some proof of a good maintenance record, like oil changes
Remote start
Please let me if you are selling what I am looking for. Photos are appreciated.
Thank you.

If Toyota actually decides to bring the Yaris Gazoo (http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1023336_toyota-reveals-210-horsepower-yaris-gazoo-name-rumored) to the US, I could check off almost every box for you except for 5-doors and remote start. Hell, I'd deliver it to you...
However, the odds of Toyota actually delivering a it to the US though... probably not that good. If you see an announcement though, shoot me a PM.
Cool car, but not really what I'm after. I am more interested in models between 07 and 11. I liked their interior designs better. The 5 door is important to me as well. Also, I like used car pricing.

Also, I like used car pricing.I also like the older interior better, and older used car prices are fantastic. Keep in mind that the 4-door hatchback wasn't introduced until 2009, and that happens to be the year when sales of the Yaris in the U.S. began to fall sharply, even including 2-doors and sedans. That makes the 4-door hatch pretty rare, so it might take a while to find what you want.
I see a dealer has one in Greensburg. The price seems high to me, but it's within KBB's range.
2010 Toyota Yaris! (https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/ctd/5988043871.html)
thanks! yeah i am about to call about it. might go see it today.

Nice! I like that color. Very uncommon. How many miles are on it?

Congrats. That's a great colour! I've only seen it a few times.

Ditto on the color. Not common at all; nice score. Looks in great shape from the one pic, congrats.
Thank you, thank you. It is actually in good condition. The used car lot I bought it from specializes in buying cars from the South only. So they are all almost rust free. Here are a few more pictures. I bought it at Tropical Motor Cars in Erie, PA.

Very clean.
So...what's your first planned mod?
I have already contacted CTScott for a cruise control kit. After I install that I might install a remote start by myself again, or I might just pay to have someone else do it since it kinda took me a while last time. I'm not sure if I'll do much more than that. Maybe pay for flex film or whatever that under coat stuff is called. Just other routine maintenance.
Do you have any mods you can recommend?
I always threatened that I would do the heated side mirrors but I never did that. That is something I would do if there is very good DIY instructions already made.
I am already happy with its performance.
I once bought an aFe air intake system and I could never get it to work right because it always turned the MAF light on. So I'm not interested in that.
I like gas mileage too much to sacrifice it for turbo.
The shocks and everything seem fine, but if the day comes when I need to replace them I would go for some nice ones.
I think that is the thing I like about old model Yari, they are already great! I can't ask for much more. I am especially happy to now have 5 doors!
Lol - I just thought of something actually. A very ghetto MOD. My '08 had the slide out visors for protecting your eyes from the sun on the side of you. I could see myself making cardboard or manila folder cut outs for that purpose. Lol. That is the type of stuff I care about. Comfort, economics, ease of sight, storage space, and ways to make it run forever.

Sounds like you have a plan and are preparing to execute against it. Can't hate on that.
Mods are always going to be personal preference, so what I recommend might be the last thing you'd ever do to a car. I've always enjoyed a good looking set of aftermarket wheels wrapped in nice rubber over OEM wheels of any kind. I'm also partial to a nice sound system; since that's where you spend all of your time in a vehicle (although I've made very little progress on that in my car lol). The lowered look has always attracted me (again, even though it took me forever to lower mine lol).
Either way, you have a nice car on your hands. Enjoy!
