View Full Version : Wheel/Tire/Suspension same on 3rd Gen?

Hello,

I've been digging a ton into wheel sizes and tires, and I find a lot of conflicting information, and what I do find is generally about previous generation cars. (Which seem to be the same as far as suspension?).

I was wondering if anyone had some clear answers to the following:

1. Are suspension parts, specifically wheel sizes and lowering springs the same with 3rd gen (specifically 2012) Yaris 3dr? I notice some companies selling lowering springs list different parts, and some don't.

2. Assuming a drop found with with Tanabe DF or Tein S-Tech springs (1.5-2 inches), what is the "most reasonable" wheel offset and tire size to run? I would like either 15x7 or 16x7 due to availability. I am less concerned about fitment so much as no rubbing. All other things being equal I would prefer a better fitment, but not at any risk to rubbing. I can't seem to find a consistent answer to offset, at least without a bunch of qualifying statements.

3. Does anyone have direct experience with 15x7 et38 wheels on a third gen with significant lowering springs? I'm not married to this size, but it is common enough to give me quite a few options, so if they fit without rubbing, or can be made to fit without much hassle it would be really convenient. My own research implies they will fit with the correct tire size, but I want to verify.

4. Is there any issues with going down to 195 width tires? It seems people want to avoid them in the posts I have read. Does it lead to a very noticeable stretch on reasonable width tires (6"-7"), or are they a size with few selections?

Thank you so much for your time! Being able to verify my own findings would really help me pull the trigger on some summer wheels. I think I have my own answers already, but with all the conflicting reports I find (even in the sticky post in this forum), it would be really good to be verified.

Thanks,
Matt
