here in aus, the yaris comes with a digital speedo/tacho, as is the steering-mounted audio controls in the mid- and high-specced yaris.

japan also had an integrated trip computer in their yaris as well, i think...

Wow, US one is definatly not as nice !! I wonder if we can order the side panels and the stero from Toyota parts departmens ? can they ship over Japanese spec parts in ? I wonder. It doesnt seem like it would be too expensive to retrofit the center console..

The digital speedo would be very expensive and I wouldn't try to retrofit that, but the stero and center console could be done easily I think... Will have to ask the dealer if they are able to source the JDM parts.

we are the guinea pigs..

they're probably going to check the reaction to the initial release to see if it will be profitable to introduce those options in. however if they will do it, it will probably as a premium option rather than be a standard one. otherwise, it will raise the base price of the car. i think the reason we have steering-mounted audio controls is that it is almost a standard feature on all 2005+ model releases, even small cars like the suzuki swift and the hyundai getz have them.

Hmm, why does the RHD cars have the stereo control on the right side, it would make sense to have them on the side away from your shifting hand ? I guess its cost cutting to keep them on the same side as LHD cars so u can keep the same wheel for both markets.. Do you RHD guys find them useful at all ?

yes, its very useful. I don't have to reach too far for the audio controls with my left hand.

Welcome! Nice interior! You seem to have all electronic meter displays on the dashboard.
