? about exhausts

in the future i would like to add a nice exhaust but my father says that adding an exhaust means having to retune the car. is this true. also which exhaust do u recommend. i dont want anything crazy loud just something w/ a nice growl and adds a little performance. thanx for the help!

i think on the old american muscle cars (and new mustangs), u need to get a tune to get the full power from an exhaust and an intake mod... but for the yaris, i dont think u need a tune for just an exhaust... if u want just restart the ecu and let idle for 10min so the ecu can relearn the a/f ratio again (but i dont think it matters for an exhaust, but intake it will)
