You must be the only person complaining that it won't have an automatic.

Honestly, most people complain there aren't any manuals on the market. Granted, overall take rate is like 6%.

the huge majority will go faster in a slick shifting 6,7 or 8 speed auto especially off the line ...

and

its very difficult to correctly and consistently row a 6 speed (manual) in a car with lots of power

again especially off the line

but the most important thing is i dont wanna shift in traffic as a daily driver

I totally get it, makes perfect sense, I just can't stand auto. Will buy manual as long as they make them, or until I physically can't drive manual anymore (which I hope never happens).

Apparently Toyota is being tight lipped about whether or not North America will get this force-fed hot hatch. While I truly hope it crosses the pond, I have very little faith, unfortunately.Yeah, I would be shocked if it came here. But... 210hp!! :eyebulge:

I see two or three of their autonomous test cars every morning, cruising the Tempe streets.

You and me both!

I'm fine if they offer automatic versions, too, so long as they also offer manual.

FYI, the Fiat 500 Abarth, Hyundai Veloster Turbo, and MINI Cooper S both do offer automatic variants. The Fiesta ST, however, does not.

It's too bad more companies aren't tarting up their b-segment hatchbacks. I know from a sales perspective it doesn't make much money, however. But I'd love to see a Chevy Sonic SS (Z18?), a Nissan Versa Note SE-R, a Hodna Fit Si, and a Kia Rio Turbo.

No kidding. Like Thirty-Nine said about auto and manual trans, I'm fine with autonomous cars being available to those that want them as long as there is another option.

Last I checked, the McLaren P1 was electric, right?

No way is the GRMN coming to the USA. I would feel like a clown or a teenager driving the GRMN, without changing out the cheesy, oversized rally rear spoiler for a regular one, and removing all those overdone race/rally graphic touches though.

Supercharged engine....

It's like a old school version of a turbocharger that nobody uses anymore except it generates less power, uses more fuel (parasitic losses of being belt driven), and when it brakes you can just throw it out and buy a new one because they aren't rebuild-able.

Agreed! Heck, I look at other cars in this segment, and could easily see Toyota offering this as both a 6 speed manual or automatic with paddle-shifters.
