Is the Prius C worth the increased cost compared to the Yaris?

I personally don't think so.
- Hybrid battery = MAJOR expense when it goes (engineered to last about 120-150K miles).
- Car looks awful from the rear angles (at least to me).
- I've been averaging 41 MPG in my 2015 Yaris over the last 1.5 or so years of daily work-commute driving in Phoenix, AZ.

Yaris are definitely more efficient with lower cost of maintenance.

No the Prius is more efficient. The Yaris is mechanically simpler. An equitable trade off in my view.

Drive the Prius C and find out if you like it. The performance with the CVT is pitiful. Plus, IMHO, the Prius C (unlike the Yaris) looks awful from every angle.
I remember when I was in the market to replace my 2007 Yaris, I looked at the 2014 Yaris and the 2014 Prius C... and had the same question you are asking here. At that time, there was a significant rebate and discount on the Prius C... and no rebate or much of a discount on the Yaris. So, the Prius C was actually almost the same price as the Yaris LE. I don't know if that's the case now.

I have experience with both as I drive a Yaris (had a sedan before, currently a hatch now), and my bro has a Prius c. I also work at a Toyota dealership and drive a Prius c at least once a week (we don't sell Yarii very much, I have actually never sold one yet).
The Prius c is slower, and louder than any Yaris I've been in. It also feels like it gets tossed around by cross winds easier too. The 2017 MY all come with two-tone colors (always a black lip kit), which imo, makes it look cheap and stupid. The mpg rating has fallen too in accordance to the 2017 testing method at 48/43. The Yaris gets 30/36.
With all of that said, it really depends on how much driving you do a year, and where most of your miles comes from. If you do primarily freeway driving, I'd stick with the Yaris. If you do city driving, go with the Prius c. And to confuse you some more, I'd rather get a Prius LB than a c since it gets 54/50 (58/53 for the Two Eco). Considering the Prius LB gets more incentives, at least in my region, the payments may actually end up being similar between the c and LB (unless you plan on leasing, then the Prius c and Yaris are significantly higher than the Prius). You get more features out of the Prius than you do with the c.
If you do go with the Yaris, I'd wait for the refreshed 2018 MY.

When I was shopping for my car I compared the Yaris and the Prius C. I chose the Yaris.

I like both cars, but I'm a simple car guy, and the CVT and hybrid system scares me. With the Yaris, the repairs are much simpler and cheaper.

Thank you for the input, people. I appreciate it. I might have to give my Yaris to my sister, and if I do, I think I'll just stick with another Yaris. I'd love to have the mileage a Prius C has to offer, but I'm really not interested in the hybrid drivetrain. If anything, I'll go with a Yaris MT next time around.
