I am serious about getting a bike. I am new to it all 34 years old lol. But yolo right. My first bike should be special.I hear good things about the Yamaha R3. I have my mind set on this bike. Yamaha R3 would be a sick first bike..

If you are experienced, cool. If you are a hot dog, then learn to ride first. These rides can and will get away from you. The power is awesome. One thing newer riders don't realize is how fast these motorcycles are. Leaning to corner and knowing how to make a bike do what you want with your body is paramount. Bikes are make for speed. GET USED TO RIDING BEFORE YOU TAKE A LAYER OF SKIN OFF. Just looking out for you man, I LOVED riding. ANd had enormous respect for motorcycle.

Honda XL 250

Last bike 2004 Honda ST 1300.

I agree start small and learn before moving up.

A friend at work rode a Sportster for many years until it died. Harley's are SLOW and can't get out of their own way. Which is fine. Then he got his cousins Honda 600 sport bike. These are FAST and highly maneuverable. After a few months you think "Wow my shit doesn't stink riding this awesome racing bike!"

You haven't seen everything in that time. I tried to warn Timmy about this. Don't get cocky! This bike will make you think you're an expert when you're just a pup.

Timmy went around a curve too fast and hit a telephone pole at speed. By some miracle he just broke his shoulder (which took years to get right) The bike was totaled.

Don't let this happen to you. Get the yammy if you want but take it slow for a couple years.

First bike: Suzuki TL90 (back around 1974-5). Had a Honda XL250 as well. Great thumper!

Last bikes (that I still have): 1991 Honda ST1100 and 2005 Honda CBR1000RR Repsol

Don't ride anymore due to too many near accidents (most of which weren't my fault). Buying a Jeep didn't help as I found it is just as much fun and you can bring the family along to share in it (spent a couple hours being lost in the Texas Hill Country just yesterday). I do miss riding but I have gotten to the point where it's just too risky unless I go out of the city.

But, if I can offer one bit of advice, it would be this...it is much more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow (same applies to cars, which is why I love my Yaris!).

Don't think having a lot of horsepower equates to a more enjoyable ride, it's actually just bait to get you to push yourself harder and more likely beyond your capabilities. I've seen too many accidents because someone was trying to keep up with a rider more skilled then them. The most fun I ever had riding was a small, single- or two-cylinder bike out in the country. Yes I had some great adventures on my liter-class motorcycles, but if I were buying a bike today I would likely get a 250-500cc trail bike and take it easy and have fun. You're not going to be a MotoGP superstar, and you'll only hurt yourself trying!

I see that cbr 1000 ? I don't think i can handle that. I'll stick with the 300's then probably the 600's. Nothing further than that.I don't want a BIKE for speed. I know many have them to carve roads up like hoonigans. Not my thing I am more about relaxing cruise with occasional full blast once in a while kind of guy.

Love the advice i am taking each on board. I know it's dangerous so SAFETY is first on my priority. I have to get on it see where i am and my skill level. Respect the bike and so on and so forth.

I looking forward to get my motorcycle license this or maybe next year. I'll have to see how much time there is left to do the license since that process is very time consuming in Germany ( a lot of practical and theoretical lessons ) and i'm starting to go to university in September.

My father has always been a biker. He started to ride on public roads when he was 15 and the only bikes he rides are older BMWs. He owns a BMW K 100 and a BMW K 1100 RS with the silver black color scheme. Both bikes are inline 4's. I'm not sure if he just doesn't like boxer engines, but i know he really likes BMW's.

My stepfather owns a BMW R 100 R. A Very beautiful 2-cylinder boxer.

So i have always kinda been in contact with motorcycles even though i am more of a car guy. Actually my first word was car because my father teached me to say it.
Because saying mom or dad was too boring haha :D

This pretty much sums it up very nicely!

First bike ever was a little XR100 (had a Honda ATV before that), rode the hell out of that thing when I was a kid. Fast forward to 2016 and I got a 75' CB500f as a gift. Too clean to mess with it so I picked up a barn find 77' CB400f to play with. Then something compelled me to pick up a CB175 and it goes on and on until I have a crammed garage. Love these old bikes. Like everyone else said, get yourself into good form before you pick up a faster bike; even the R3 is a pretty quick bike. Also, please, please, please don't ever ride without a helmet. I would suggest full gear but I know it can be a hassle. Ride on! :headbang:
