My AC was not working it was blowing hot so I took it to Pep Boys with a free AC check coupon
They checked and said I need a new blend door actuator. I think it is behind the glove box and from the youtube videos it is very easy to change it.
But it is very expensive, I can not find it less than $30. Does it make sense to buy used?
Also has anyone changed this before? What should I be looking for?

You consider $30 to be very expensive? Not just expensive, but very expensive!
Never heard of this issue before on this forum so don't know what you are up against or even if the diagnosis is correct.

I don't know what year yaris you have but afaik they all had mechanical actuators via a cable.
And even if your blend door was stuck on recirc or fresh it would still blow cold if your ac worked fine.
Your issue is likely something else. Either that, or young age a newer yaris with very different ac parts that I'm not familiar with

I hope your power lock actuator never fails. You might pass out!

This is 2009 Toyota yaris. Pep boys told me it is blend door actuator and they also said one part of the car blows cold the other part hot air because of this actuator

Ok, so it's not the air recirc actuator but the temperature control actuator. I'm surprised an '09 yaris would have an electronically controlled actuator.
Either way the part is cheap and shouldn't be too hard to replace if you pull the glove box. The smaller your hand the easier it will be lol.
