Hi everyone. I hope you're having a great year so far.

I haven't checked in in a long time. I have a 2012 Yaris L 5MT that I will have owned for 5 years (as of August 2, 2017). For quite a long time, I've traded in my cars after 5 years to get a new one. (Corolla for Corolla, Corolla for this Yaris, etc.). For the first time in a long time, I have no desire to trade in a car. I recently told my wife that I've enjoyed owning and driving this car more than any other car I've owned. So, I suspect I'll blow past the 5-year-ownership period and keep driving this gem.

Happy driving!

I know the feeling. I keep telling myself that I should finally settle down and get an automatic Yaris/iM/? in 2020-2021 (after 35+ years of driving nothing but manual stick vehicles), but I really like my 2015 Yaris a LOT. It's probably my favorite car that I have ever owned, ironically enough, while being among the least expensive at the same time (relative to time-period inflation levels anyway).

My vehicle history:

1980's
- Honda Accord LX hatch (first car, burgundy)
- Honda Prelude Si coupe (astral-blue metallic)
- Honda CRX Si hatch (red)
- Acura Integra LE hatch (white limited edition w/white alloys)
1990's
- Acura Integra GS hatch (black, w/OEM body kit)
- Honda Civic Si hatch (black)
- Honda Civic EX Sedan (black)
2000+
- Honda Accord EX Sedan (lapis-blue)
- Toyota Yaris SE hatch (white)

How has it been mechanically? Any issues at all?

When you decide you're done with it, let me know before trading it in haha.

Kalispel, I suggest therapy ! please get this out of your mind... I suspect you're gonna feel miserable with an auto (like I would) if you're trying to apprehend the future. When time comes up you can't shift these anymore then you move. Living in an heavily congested area is something else though which I believe is not your situation... : )

matti: I completely relate to what you're saying. I enjoyed my 2007 so much that I bought a 2014... and I love this car, too!

3rdSEman: After driving nothing but manual transmission small cars (and racing class C sedan) for many years, my 2007 Yaris was my first automatic. Now, I have a 2014 with the same 4 speed automatic. I love this transmission; it upshifts and downshifts flawlessly and never hunts for the right gear, and if you really get on it, performance is surprisingly good.
