Been a long time since I've been active on here. Even when I was on here frequently, I did more reading than posting. It's time to start reworking the Yaris so I figured I would start a thread to monitor the progress and so I have a reference of sorts. Can't find any pictures of when I first got the car back in 06' (I got one of the first ones on the lot:biggrin:) but here's one from around 09' when I had it on...I think they were Progressive or Progress? Something of the sorts, 2.5" drop all around and some old Racing Harts I "borrowed" from my brother.

Fast forward to around 2012
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y226/heeroyuy01195/Yaris%20Pics/FB_IMG_1496786770673.jpg (http://s6.photobucket.com/user/heeroyuy01195/media/Yaris%20Pics/FB_IMG_1496786770673.jpg.html)
At this point, the car had been in 2 accidents, first I ran over a curb to avoid a car that ran the intersection and bent my rim and torsion beam. My torsion beam on the driver's side now has a permanent -1.5 degree camber that I corrected with shims. Had the wheels repaired and told the shop respray them back the original bronze...he gave me gold... Then I switched to Megan coilovers and added a DIY garden edge lip. Around 2014 I hydroplaned on the highway and hit one of those water barrel barricardes and caved in my passenger side quarter panel. Had that replaced and fitted a new garden lip. Can't find the pictures unfortunately
Fast forward again to late 2016 and I had installed a modified EK Civic type R lip. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the car with the lip for some reason but early this year I had this happen...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y226/heeroyuy01195/Yaris%20Pics/IMG_20170415_113035_069.jpg (http://s6.photobucket.com/user/heeroyuy01195/media/Yaris%20Pics/IMG_20170415_113035_069.jpg.html)
Basically, the construction workers rerouted traffic late at night (none of the street lights were working yet so it was fairly dark) and, in their infinite wisdom, rerouted the traffic into a section of road that wasn't completed yet. That unfinished road used to be a median so I ended up on top of the median and hit a chunk of it on the way off which bent my sub frame and driver's side control arm. Also wrecked the radiator support on that side.
Did some work on it a few weeks later to at least get it "legal" to drive so I could get it to my work shop.

Made an attempt to swap out the damaged parts a few weeks ago but couldn't figure out how to disconnect the steering rack. Saw a thread that it's done from inside the car so I'll take another shot at it once the rain stops. Been raining here for about 2 weeks straight...

could you post a closer pic of your "DIY garden edge lip". Or where did you get it Home Depot Lowe's etc?

My cars has a few scratches too, but i figured it's nothing mechanical and my car isn't a showcar. So instead of fixing it i'm going full JDM with the cable ties :D

Unfortunately I don't have any close up pictures of it. It's just the generic garden edging you get at any hardware store. It does flex a lot, especially on the highway, I was going to reinforce it but ended up swapping to a different lip. If I did it again I would double up the garden edging so it has some more rigidity. Thing folds over at highway speeds.

JDM cable ties fix everything! My bumper was actually in good shape until that last accident. I pretty much ran over my bumper; when I hit the subframe it knocked the bumper off.

That install is a lot nicer than what I did. I drilled holes and did zipties in a cross pattern along the lip.

So my second hand subframe had the rear mount still in it. Looks way different from mine. Curious if it was actually a LB subframe. Either way, subframe went on the car with no issues.

Quick Update, spent most of Saturday Morning looking for an alignment shop that would take my car in. The place my friend with a slammed VW recommended refused to work on my car so I just stopped at every shop I saw on the way home. As luck would have it, the place 5 minutes from my house was the only one willing to do the alignment. Anyhow, car is finally drive-able and it felt good to finally be able to throw the thing around some corners. Still not 100% road worthy yet; at least not to my standards. Need to install new fender liners which should be getting here this week and take care of a few other odds and ends.
Second note, was able to get a hold of CTScott (he's traveling out of the country frequently due to work, just in case anyone was trying to get a hold of him. He will reply but it takes him a while; just be patient ) and I got an airbag module from him. Going to be installing some Recaros later using blacksandiegovitz's old seat brackets and sliders I picked up when he parted out a few years ago. Also snagged a SSK from Garm that he had on his ebay page:

Made some more progress on the car this week. Installed:
Front Fender Liners
Rear Wiper Delete Kit
Mud Guards
Micro Image SSK
The fender liners were the cheapest ones I could find on Rock Auto, I normally stick with all OEM parts but if it's what I consider a "wear item" then I don't want to spend too much on something I'm going to be replacing frequently. The Mud Guards I picked up on Amazon for I think $10 or so, have a brand new OEM set but after thinking about it, mud guards are wear items so I'll save the OEM ones for later. The rear wiper delete I bought from password JDM, I never use my rear wiper and the plastic trim was cracking something nasty so I figured I would just take it out. Picked up the SSK from Garm's ebay store, I think he has a few left if anyone is looking for one. Pictures time...

I realized after I took this picture that on that I forgot the washer that goes on top of the cable. The washer is on there but I forgot to take another picture.
Followed this thread back when it first started and read through it again recently before installing
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34793&page=5
I didn't find the install to be as difficult as some of the other members made it out to be. Was actually quite simple and I finished it in about 30 minutes or so. In terms of performance, I've only put a few miles on the car since the install and it was still super notchy. It seems to be getting smoother the more I shift/drive around. Guessing the cables just need to reposition themselves a bit. The throw is just as short as with the old NST I had in there but I'll see if the notchyness eases up after I drive the car a bit more.

Next on the list is to finally paint and install my spoiler; been sitting on this thing for about 5 years  Have a Speedhut tach on the way that will be going in as well. Also looking into getting the transmission rebuilt and install an LSD. Looking for a TRD helical type but we'll see what money permits and what happens to pop up when it's time. After that it's 2zr parts gathering. So far all I have is an ECU, courtesy of frogger. Ultimate goal is to build a reliable and fun daily driver.
Unrelated question, can anyone recommend a better picture hosting site? Photobucket is really crappy now...

Yeah there's a decent amount of cutting, heating, bending, etc. involved in getting it on but it's nothing too difficult. Any urethane lip will work, I used an EG Civic lip before this one because it was cheaper at the time. As for fitment, it really comes down to how much time you have to put into it.
In a nutshell, trim the top that normally screws into the civic bumper and then get a heat gun and start bending it to the shape of your bumper. Grab a few self tapping screws to hold it on and you're done. If you plan it out right, you can screw it into the bumper from the bottom so you don't see any of them. I was short on time with this one so I just screwed the lip onto the bumper from the front and sides. Not noticeable from afar because they're black but you can see them for sure if you're looking for them.
If you look at my car up close it's far from perfect but my bumper is also mangled from an accident so I didn't put too much effort into making the lip fit absolutely perfectly to my imperfect bumper. Also, I go through these things every few months with all the construction on the highway so I don't invest too much time or money into any lip I make. I look at these as throw-away items since it's on the bottom of the car and gets smacked into everything so I never spend more than $20 on a lip :iono:
If you want a way easier option, garden edging works nicely and looks decent. Only issue I had with it, when I single layered it, it would flex on the highway. Put some backing on it for rigidity and it's good to go. I use the 4" tall version with the sort of rounded bump edge. Heat it up then flip it upside down so the part that goes in the ground is screwed or zip tied to the underside of the bumper. Way less cutting and easier to mold to the bumper. Don't think I have any pictures of this one if it's not in the thread; sorry. Anyways hope this helps!

I cut the lip down to fit. On my first one I reused the ends I cut off and blended them back onto the lip but it took a lot of time to get it right. After the first one got destroyed I didn't bother going through the hassle since it's only a matter of time before I break the replacement. The highways around me are always under construction so my bumper gets beat up quite a bit.
