Cup Holder Won't Close All The Way

Hello Everyone,

The cup holder on my 2010 Yaris won't close correctly. Once it gets about an inch away from closing, it has meets some resistance that feels like your pushing against a spring. You can go ahead and push it closed, but it springs back open when you let go. I'm wondering if anyone knows whats wrong with it? I reached in and grabbed the little metal trigger from up under the dash and held it away from the curved rail that it catches on in the detents.......but the cup holder still has that spring open thing going on. Related to this is......How do you remove this cup holder. I can't figure that out either and if I could remove it and inspect it, I'm thinking I might fix it that way (by finding something stuck in it, etc.)

Pop ur fuse door check ir anything behind that happen to me after they put my alarm wad a bunch off cables behind it

I did pop the fuse door and look up at the backside of the cup holder from below.
I was surprised that I didn't see anything that was interfering with its movement.

Probably no way for anyone to say what could be wrong with this thing.....but I get the vibe if I could pop it out of there and inspect things......the answer would reveal itself. If anyone know how to remove the cup holder.....that would be a big help! Thanks!

The verdict is in on this one Boys (and girls)!

After pulling the little metal spring clip that creates the detents for open and closed......and this having no effect.......I finally just wrenched the cup holder off of its hinge pivot by brute force with the cup holder still relatively in position.....and once I did this.......I heard something rattle. I shook the cup holder and then pointed end of a screw revealed itself underneath. It was in the cup holder and was just small enough to fall down into the hinge area. Thanks again for all the input!
