Hey, I was sitting in my car, and i noticed the visibility out the back isn't very good. At least to other cars that i have driven, so i took out the 3 headrest in the back of the car, and it made a ton of difference.

I was just wondering, has anyone else tried this? If not, next time you have time, take em out and see what you think.

heh, that's the first thing i thought when i drove out the dealer. got used to it though...now when there's 3 passengers sitting in the back, it's hard to see.

I DID THE SAME THING..... i now want to lose that stupid seatbelt thing that hangs from the roof....

That seat belt is the dumbest piece of shit on the car. I am tempted to strip the entire rear like nimble did. I took my head rest and deck board out first thing. All that shit is in the way. Nobody sits back there in mine.

nobody sits in the back seat of my car either. the FIRST thing i did when i got home with my Yaris was take out that deck board. it's sitting in my garage. and that seatbelt! holy mother of something holy! i HATE that thing. it took me forever to get the actual buckle into it's little house in the roof. i can't stand that middle seat belt thing.

oh you shoved it up in there to hide it? I might try that. I was thinking about cutting the belts out with siccors

How funny, I was just hatin on mine this morning! I did like Death, finagled rear belt buckle into its house, but belt itself is still in the way...

i'm confused, because in all the pics i've seen of the interior are like the ones echo posted...how is it hard to see behind you because of the headrest when they are positioned like in the pic?

somebody show this guy what a non 60/40 rear seat looks like

it wasn't impossible to see with my headrest in but you have full view of the rear sheild without, the headrest in the non split seat are small versions of the front headrests notlike the rs model above at all

In my RS, the 60/40 rear seat headrests can be made flush with the rear seats when not in use...And the middle seatbelt clips into the roof...

I didn't get a hard cover to bridge between the seats and the spare cover....is this an option?

Sorry about getting off topic!

It's there in the 40/60 split seats, I seem to remember it's folded under something. I know it took me a little bit to find it & when I did it was WOW. Mine looks identical to the RS pix shown here (under the carpet).

Yup, 60/40....and yes it is hinged from the spare cover. Had it just shy of 3 months and it gets nicer every day!!!!! (what else don't I know about it???)

Again sorry about breaking topic!

Have you found all 20 "hidden" compartments yet?

As for breaking topic, I'm female so it's my right to change my mind or your topic!

Me either and I do have the 60/40 seats. I was just trying to figure some way to deal with that space since my dog rides back there.

The 2 carpeted panels on the spare cover are hinged to the front and unsnap...just pull them up!!!!

Is there some place to stash that back upper deck fake trunk thingy?

I was afraid it was somehting like that. I remember the salesman trying to show me how it stashed and not being able to get it to work.

I am so thankful I came across this post. We've had the headrests out for a bit now and I totally forgot about the whole whiplash thing. I just happened to finish a report recently on whiplash so it's kind of funny that I hadn't considered what taking out the headrests would do. They'll be reinstalled in the morning.

Do people really ride back there. I am serioulsy considering losing my back seat. I think of my car as a two seater.

There's actually a lot of room in the back seats thanks to next to zero trunk space. And easy in/out access for us 5 door guys, so I always have ppl sitting in the back. It's fairly comfy for 5 people.

ya, it's option C in the US. In Canada, it's the RS model.

does anyone know if it's normal that when I fold my back seat (not rs model....) that the back of the seat is not flush with the cargo floor? and I mean not even close to be flush:iono:

Apparently that's the big difference between the RS and other models... the 60/40 seats in the RS fold flat while the others are raised a few inches...

I thought you had to fold the rear seat forward to get the back to lay -flat-

I do not have 60/40 though.

churp

When you move the 60/40's all the way forward before folding, everythings flat. The bottoms actually drop down in the forward position only.

I'm kinda confused following the thread here, though its probably the difference in the US/Aussie models. All our models come with 60/40, slide and the fold down 'thingy'. Are yours spec differently ?

Convenient, clever & adaptable seating
Complete with easy front seat adjustment and 60:40 split-fold and slide adjustable (Hatchback only) rear seats, the seating in the Toyota Yaris combines luxurious comfort and practical adaptability. The 60:40 split rear seats slide forward and back (Hatchback only), allowing you to choose more legroom or more luggage room, plus it folds flat for even more luggage space, all with a simple tilt and slide action. It features advanced seat and back design and rear passenger centre armrest (sedan only) to provide superior ride comfort and support whether you're on the long road or just zipping around the city.

See this is the sh*t I don't like about Toyota. All of the good sh*t they leave out here in the States.

no fold flat seats (they fold down but not flat, and without the hard plastic cover.)
no push button start
no freaking tachometer in a manual!?!?!?!

F*ck.

I still want one, but Toyota makes it hard. At least a tachometer. Come on.

These aren't the best shots to show the non-60/40 rear seat, but here's what I have that shows the way the headrests stick up:

http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/500/hatch_only.jpg

This one shows how the full rear seat does not lay flat:

http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/500/hatch_seat_down.jpg

The rear-middle seat belt is tucked up in its cove on the headliner and not visible from this angle.

on occasion i do have people in my back seat, i'd say at least once a week.

my daughter rides in the back all of the time, in a booster right in the middle seat.
you can also lock the rear belts by pulling them all the way out and then tightening them back, great for child seats!

the visibility issue i am most bothered by are the blind spots created by the rear pillars, but this is par for the course with hatchbacks,
just have to make sure the mirrors are adjusted properly.

my 60/40 seat folds flat fine. it came with one of the packages, i'm sure. and i keep that cargo cover thingie in because it hides what i have in the trunk  and my headrests look like the one shown in that RS model. however, it's annoying when ppl are sitting in the back and they insist on pullin' the headrest up.. and then i have to put it down later.
