Hi guys,

I have an electrical issue with my Yaris 2000 1.5 T-sport that I could do with some input on please.

Yesterday I was parked up speaking with a friend for around 1 hour, only to find after our call my Yaris wouldn't start. I have recorded this short video to show the problem I am experiencing:

I have checked fuses that can be seen at the end of the video and they are fine.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!*

Charge your battery, 8 V is waaay too low. You probably left the lights on or something and it drained the battery.

Hi,

We have tried to jump start it without any luck. I don't think it is the battery as it started perfectly in the morning, and we wouldn't have the weird issue with the lights and speedo dial.

100% dead battery, at 8.67 V your battery is so discharged that when you try to start the car it doesn't have enough power to even nudge the starter and all that happens is the current draw of the starter causes the lights to dim. Try jumping it again just leave it connected to the with the other car running for a few minutes to charge the battery before you try to start it again. Verify that it's being charged (voltage should be at around 13.5 V when charging).

With the battery voltage that low, it will drag a lot of current from the jumper leads if you do try a jump start. If you do manage to jump start the car, you will need to drive it for some time to charge the battery back up. Better to put it on a battery charger if you can get hold of one.
